Lauryn Ilasco is a 22 year old Filipino-American designer from the Bay Area, currently based in New York City. She currently is studying knitwear and is passionate about exploring knitwear and clothing in relation to connection. She is interested in exploring the idea of wearable connection, using knitwear as her medium. Knitted garments rely on connection — endless interloopings and interlockings of yarn, reflecting the interconnectiity of my life and all our lives. With knitwear she is experimenting new ways to visually articulate feelings and experiences of different forms of connection.
Much of her recent work stems from her project, “THE INTERCONNECTIVITY OF MY LIFE / FOREVER BOUND TO THOSE I LOVE” (2023). Each time she revisits the project, it sends her down new rabbit-holes, each sprouting a new projects.
She is also interested in typography and print media designs.
